Historic Season Ends With Loss To #20 Florida State In NCAA Tournament

COLUMBIA, S.C. – The Samford men's tennis team's historic 2024-25 season came to an end Friday morning with a 4-0 loss to 20th-ranked Florida State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the Carolina Tennis Center.
The Bulldogs reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013 after winning the Southern Conference Tournament title. Samford finished its season with a mark of 19-6 overall and 6-1 in SoCon play to win a share of the SoCon regular season title. Florida State is now 19-8 and the Seminoles advanced to Saturday's second round action.
FSU took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2 to take an early 1-0 lead. The match at No. 3 doubles was not finished.
At No. 1 singles, FSU's Corey Craig defeated Sandeep Mohandoss, 6-0, 6-2 to make the score 2-0. At No. 5 singles, Youcef Rihane defeated Sebastian Harrison, 6-2, 6-1 for a 3-0 FSU lead. The match was clinched at No. 3 singles where Erik Schiessl defeated Hayden Menon, 3-6, 6-2, 6-1, to make the final score 4-0.
