MONTGOMERY, Ala.-- The Samford men's tennis team delivered a commanding performance Saturday, sweeping Alabama State University, 7-0, in a non-conference road match. The Bulldogs claimed every doubles and singles court to earn their first win of the spring season, improving their record to 1-1.
The Bulldogs set the tone early in doubles, capturing all three matches for the opening point. The duo of Sandeep Mohandoss and Darcy Nicholls rallied after dropping the first set to secure a win. Sebastian Harrison and Vitorio Sardinha clinched their match with a strong comeback, while the tandem of Lukas Dvorak and Cooper Errey posted a straight-sets victory to complete the doubles sweep.
Samford carried its momentum into singles play, where it stayed perfect across all six courts. Mohandoss led the way with a 6-3, 6-2 victory, and Nicholls followed with an identical scoreline. Harrison earned a straight-sets win and Hayden Menon clinched a hard-fought match, taking a third-set tiebreak, 15-13. Sardinha and Errey closed out the sweep with dominant performances.
Samford returns to action Sunday, Jan. 25, hosting Ole Miss at 1 p.m. in the Samford Tennis Center.
