Samford Softball to Host Inaugural Hit-A-Thon
10.6.26 | Softball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – As Samford softball prepares for its upcoming Hit-A-Thon, the Bulldogs are looking to raise $25,000 through pledges and donations to support the program.
The goal of the Hit-A-Thon is for each student-athlete to collect pledges from at least ten separate people, with a team goal of collecting 225 pledges and reaching 100% participation. While flat donations are accepted, student-athletes are encouraged to focus on collecting per-foot pledges and challenging themselves to showcase their softball skills.
Each student-athlete will receive ten swings, with the longest ball hit determining the distance used for each pledge. The minimum pledge amount is $0.10 per foot. Student-athletes are encouraged to ask supporters to pledge a specific amount per foot rather than simply asking for a flat donation.
For example, a student-athlete could collect one pledge of $1.00 per foot, two pledges of $0.50 per foot, three pledges of $0.40 per foot and three pledges of $0.35 per foot, along with one $100 flat donation. If the longest hit travels 200 feet, the pledges would generate $850, with the additional $100 donation bringing the total to $950.
The goal for each student-athlete is to secure at least ten separate pledges or donations and raise at least $1,000. Student-athletes are encouraged to challenge themselves and show off their skills while helping support Samford softball.
Pledges and donations can be submitted through the Samford Softball Hit-A-Thon GiveCampus page.
Pledge forms must be turned in to Sarah Cespedes by October 23, 2026. Checks should be made payable to Samford Softball.
