Samford Men's Tennis Sweep Both Southern Miss and Oglethorpe

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.-- The Samford men's tennis team earned two victory's on Sunday, sweeping Southern Miss 4-0 and Oglethorpe 7-0 in two non-conference match ups at the Samford Tennis Center. This improves their overall record to 6-4.

Samford set the tone from the outset by capturing the doubles point with commanding performances. Sandeep Mohandoss and Darcy Nicholls rolled to a 6-2 victory, while Lukas Dvorak and Cooper Errey posted a 6-3 win to secure the early advantage for the Bulldogs. The remaining doubles contest was left unfinished after the point was clinched.

In singles, the Bulldogs' depth and resilience proved decisive. Sebastian Harrison delivered a straight-sets win, putting Samford ahead 2-0. Darcy Nicholls emerged victorious in a three-set battle, and Sandeep Mohandoss capped the sweep by rallying from a set down to clinch the match. With Samford securing the fourth point, the remaining singles matches were abandoned.

The Bulldogs jumped ahead early in the second match against Oglethorpe by taking all three doubles matches. Santiago Arredondo paired with Parker Free for a dominant 6-1 result, while Cooper Errey and Lukas Dvorak posted a convincing 6-2 win. Martin Schwartzman and Charlie Piegza clinched the sweep with a 6-4 victory, giving Samford a quick 1-0 lead.

Samford maintained total control in singles play, winning all six matches in straight sets. Cooper Errey dropped only one game in a 6-1, 6-0 rout, and Santiago Arredondo held firm through a close second set to win 6-4, 7-5. Martin Schwartzman and Charlie Piegza each allowed just one game to their opponents, both notching 6-0, 6-1 triumphs. Parker Free added another dominant victory with a 6-1, 6-0 finish. 

Samford continues its non-conference schedule on the road at Georgia Southern on Saturday in Statesboro, Ga.
