SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Samford men's basketball team had a player earn individual accolades after another 2-0 week as they defeated Wofford and ETSU.
Dylan Faulkner earned Southern Conference Player of the Week honors after averaging 19.5 points per game and 11 rebounds per game.
The Bulldogs are the hottest team in the SoCon, winning their fifth game in a row on Saturday at first-place ETSU. The Dogs dominated the overtime period to capture an 82-72 win over the Buccaneers. Faulkner paced the way throughout, dominating the paint on his way to 24 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. He went 10-of-18 from the floor as he is shooting 62 percent this season.
Before heading to ETSU, Samford knocked off second-place Wofford at home on Wednesday night 97-80. Faulkner needed just 15 minutes to score 15 points and pull down 12 rebounds, going 5-for-8 from the field, as Samford dominated the Terriers. The junior from Calhoun, Ga. has now recorded six straight double-doubles.
The Bulldogs are back on the road this week as they take on The Citadel on the road Thursday night and are at Mercer on Saturday. The Bulldogs sit at 15-12 on the season and 8-6 in SoCon play.
