Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Bulldogs women's tennis team delivered a dominant performance Saturday afternoon, sweeping Alabama A&M women's tennis team, 7–0, at the Samford Tennis Center.
Samford set the tone early by securing the doubles point with two victories. Lea Erenda and Sara Erenda earned a 6-1 win at the top spot, while Hailey Troup and Eleni Liakonis followed with a 6-2 victory to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead.
In singles play, Samford controlled the match across the board. Sara Erenda claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win and Lea Erenda added a straight-set victory.
Cathy Cardona-Carbal and Hailey Troup each posted convincing straight-set wins, while Liakonis secured her match before her opponent retired. Laila Fishman battled through a tightly contested three-set match, closing out a 10-6 decision in the final-set tiebreaker to complete the sweep.
With the win, Samford improved to 6-2 on the season and will look to carry the momentum forward in tomorrows match against Murray State.First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m. at the Samford Tennis Center.
