SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford sophomore Eleni Liakonis was named the Southern Conference Player of the Week when the league released its weekly women's tennis awards Tuesday afternoon.
 
Liakonis earned a singles win in Samford's 4-3 win over North Alabama on Friday. At No. 1 singles, she earned a 6-2, 6-4 win. In their previous match against Alabama State, Liakonis secured the doubles point with her partner Hailey Troup and a dominant two set win in her singles match.

The Bulldogs are currently 2-1 overall in the early season. Samford will head to Nashville, TN on Friday, February 6^th to take on Belmont. The match is set for a 5:30 p.m.
