GAME NOTES -- SAMFORD vs. THE CITADEL
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's basketball team returns to the Pete Hanna Center to host The Citadel on Thursday, Feb. 5, 2026, for Greek Night. The home Bulldogs enter with an 11-12 record, while The Citadel has an 8-15 record on the season.
The Samford Bulldogs return home for a three-game home stand beginning with a game against The Citadel Bulldogs. Samford and The Citadel are meeting for the first time this season and the 34th all-time matchup, with Samford leading the series 20-13. Samford is currently on a seven-game winning streak over the visiting Bulldogs.
Samford is coming off an 88-74 victory in their last game at Western Carolina on Sunday. Dylan Faulkner dominated the paint, scoring 23 points and pulling down 14 rebounds on his way to his third straight double-double. Jadin Booth needed only eight shots to score 18 points as he went 3-of-5 from deep against the Catamounts. Samford got strong contributions outside of their star duo, as starters Isaiah Campbell-Finch scored 13 points and Cade Norris scored 10 and had 9 rebounds. Kam Martin has given the Dogs a spark off the bench, scoring nine against WCU and scoring above his season average in four of the previous five games. Zion Wilburn added 11 off the bench, his highest output since scoring 15 points on Nov. 21 at New Mexico State.
The Bulldogs rank fourth nationally and first in the SoCon in fewest turnovers per game (8.7), and are first in the league in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.72). Samford also attacks the rim, sitting first in the SoCon in free throw attempts per game (24.5), while connecting from deep at a high volume with 9.4 made threes per game (4th in SoCon). Booth leads the SoCon and ranks 23rd nationally in scoring (20.6 PPG). Ranks No. 1 nationally in three-pointers per game (4.05) and No. 2 in total threes made (85). •
Dylan Faulkner (F): 16th nationally in field goal percentage (63.3%). Ranks 6th in the nation in free throw attempts (181).
The Citadel enters the game with an 8-15 record on the season and is 5-5 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back home wins over VMI and UNCG. They defeated the Spartans in overtime 71-66 on Saturday afternoon, their fourth overtime conference game this season. Head coach Ed Conroy is in his eighth season at The Citadel in his second stint. The Citadel was picked to finish 10th in the SoCon Preseason Coaches Poll. The Bulldogs have more wins in the SoCon than they did in the previous two seasons combined.
