BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Bulldogs women's tennis team dropped a 5–2 decision to the Lipscomb women's tennis team Sunday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
Lipscomb claimed the doubles point with two wins on the courts to take an early 1–0 lead. Samford's tandem of Cathy Cardona-Carbal and Laila Fishman held a 5–3 advantage on court three before the match went unfinished once the point was decided.
In singles play, the Bulldogs earned two victories. Laila Fishman secured a 6–4, 6–2 win, while Cathy Cardona-Carbal added a straight-set 6–2, 7–5 victory. Lipscomb, however, captured the remaining four singles matches to seal the team result.
With the loss, Samford moves to 7–4 on the season and will look to bounce back as spring competition continues.
