CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Samford women's tennis team fell in a 6-1 non-conference road match to the College of Charleston on Tuesday. With the loss, the Bulldogs' record moves to 7-5 on the season.
Charleston took an early 1-0 lead by securing the doubles point.
In singles play, Laila Fishman secured Samford's lone point with a hard-fought victory at the No. 3 position. She defeated Francesca Salvato in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5.
The Cougars controlled the remaining matches to clinch the team victory. At the No. 1 spot, Sia Cariov defeated Sara Erenda, 7-5, 6-3. Oziera Ahmad earned a 6-4, 6-2 win over Eleni Liakonis on court two, and Jaiden McKee topped Cathy Cardona-Carballosa 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 4 spot. Charleston also picked up wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 positions to seal the match.

The Bulldogs will return to the court on Wednesday, March 11, for a neutral-site match against Gonzaga. The contest is set for a 10 a.m. start in Charleston, S.C.
