No. 66 Men’s Tennis Earns 5-2 Win Over Lipscomb

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The 66th-ranked Samford men's tennis team earned a 5-2 win over Lipscomb Wednesday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improved its record to 10-5. Lipscomb fell to 7-7 with the loss.
 
Samford took a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. Samford earned wins on the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles courts. At No. 1 doubles, Sandeep Mohandoss and Darcy Nicholls defeated Alex Vlahos and Oskar Szymczak, 6-3. On the No. 3 doubles court, Lukas Dvorak and Cooper Errey earned a 6-4 win over Henrique Ushizima and Oliver Thoeny. The match at No. 2 doubles was unfinished.
 
In singles, Samford earned wins at No. 1, No. 2, No. 5 and No. 6 to earn the 5-2 win. At No. 1 singles, Nicholls defeated Facundo Perlov, 7-5, 6-3. At No. 2 singles, Sebastian Harrison earned a 6-0, 7-5 win over Filippo Verdese.
 
On the No. 5 singles court, Errey defeated Vlahos, 6-4, 6-3. At No. 6 singles, Martin Schwartzman defeated Thoeny, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4.
 
Next up, Samford will play at South Alabama on Friday, Mar. 20. The match is set for a 2 p.m. start from Mobile, Ala.
