Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford women's tennis defeated the UNCG Spartans Friday afternoon, 5-2, at the Samford Tennis Center. The Bulldogs moved to 10-9 overall on the season and 2-3 in conference play.
Samford secured the doubles point to open the match, the duo of Hailey Troup and Eleni Liakonis earned a 6-2 victory, while Lea Erenda and Sara Erenda won their match with a 6-2 win to give the Bulldogs an early 1–0 advantage.
In singles play, Samford captured four of six matches to clinch the contest. Eleni Liakonis won her match in two straight-sets 6-0, 6-2. Hailey Troup had a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory and Laila Fisherman also showed dominance with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
UNCG picked up its two points during the singles match, but Samford's depth proved to be the difference as the Bulldogs controlled the match from start to finish.
Samford will look to close out their regular season at home tomorrow against Chattanooga. First serve is scheduled for 12 p.m. from the Samford Tennis Center.
