BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford football team wraps up its spring practices as it culminates with the Spring Game on Thursday night at Pete Hanna Stadium. The game is set to kickoff at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
The Bulldogs begin a new era under head coach John Grass in his first season at Samford. The Dogs wrap up their spring after 15 practices, which began in mid March, as the whole new staff looks to put their fingerprints on a new team. Samford has added 34 newcomers to the roster from last season's team that finished with a 1-11 record.
The Bulldogs begin their season on August 29 in Huntsville as they take on North Alabama. They return home the following week for their home opener on Sept. 3 against Southern Illinois.Â
"These guys have done everything we have wanted them to do," said head coach John Grass. "From an attitude perspective, it has been the best group I have been around. Looking ahead to the spring game, I want to see guys finish. We have been getting better every practice and I want to see their snaps on Thursday night be game like and better than our first scrimmage."
The spring game will feature the full offense versus the defense and will last for three quarters.Â
