BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Samford Men's Tennis was selected to play Wisconsin in the First Round of the 2026 NCAA DI Men's Tennis Championship.
The Bulldogs will head to Starkville, Miss. to take on the Wisconsin Badgers on Friday, May 1st at 10 a.m. CT. The No.5 ranked team Mississippi State is hosting the region and will take on Tennessee Tech after the Bulldogs match at 1 p.m. CT. The winner of Friday's match will take on the winner of Mississippi State and Tennessee Tech.
The Bulldogs punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournamnet by defeating ETSU, 4-2, in the SoCon Tournament Championship on April 18th. This is the teams second year in a row winning the conference championship and making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament.
This is Wisconsin's first appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2017 and have an overall record of 17-7. They are lead by Head Coach Danny Westerman who is in his 11th year with the Badgers.
During last year's tournament appearance the Bulldogs were sent to Florida State in the first round where they fell 0-4. The Bulldogs are currently on a winning stretch, winning their last five matches, which included several key SoCon match ups.
The team currently sits at an overall record of 17-6, ending the regular season ranked at No. 73 in the final ITA rankings of the season.
