BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford men's basketball team has set its slate for the upcoming 2026-27 season. Under the leadership of head coach Lennie Acuff for his second season, the Bulldogs will play 16 of their 32 games at the Pete Hanna Center.
The Bulldogs open their season on Nov. 2 as they host Berry College. They hit the road in the non-conference in November three times, facing UNLV, USC Upstate and Georgia Tech. Samford hosts Wright State, UNC Asheville and Point to close out the month before a Birmingham matchup at UAB on Dec. 2. Southern Conference play begins on the fifth when the Dogs travel to take on newcomers to the league, Tennessee Tech.
Samford hosts Wofford on Dec. 19 for its SoCon home opener before a premier game at Alabama on Dec. 29. The Bulldogs then turn their attention back into the conference schedule the rest of the way, where they will play a home-and-home with the other ten teams in the league. Last year's regular season champions ETSU come to the Pete on Jan. 2, while Furman, Western Carolina, Chattanooga, Tennessee Tech and Mercer all come to Birmingham in the month of February. The Bulldogs close out their regular season at ETSU on Feb. 27 before entering the SoCon Tournament.
The Dogs are coming off an 18-14 record last year and were the three seed in the SoCon Tournament after going 11-7 in the league play in the regular season. Samford returns 11 players from last season's squad, but just two starters in
Cade Norris and
Isaiah Campbell-Finch. The Bulldogs will have to replace their top three scorers from last season, including two First Team All-SoCon Players.
