SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Samford junior goalkeeper
Peyton Hull and a talented Bulldog back line led the Samford soccer team to a 0-0 draw at No. 2-ranked Notre Dame in the season opener for both teams Wednesday night at Alumni Field.
The draw was the first for Samford against a top-five ranked team since a 0-0 tie against fifth-ranked Alabama in 2023.
Hull, a native of South Bend, Indiana, saved eight shots, playing the full 90 minutes in shutting out the highly-ranked Irish. The eight saves mark the third-highest total in Hull's Samford career.

Sam De Luca had one shot on goal each for the Bulldogs.
Annie McBride,
Martha Bishop and
Caroline Smith also had one shot each for Samford.
For Notre Dame, goalkeeper Sonoma Kasico played the full 90 minutes, saving two shots in the contest. Annabelle Chukwu led the Irish with six shots, including three shots on goal.
As a team, Notre Dame had 21 shots, with eight coming on goal, while Samford tallied five shots, two on goal. Notre Dame had 13 corner kicks, to two for Samford. The Bulldogs committed 11 fouls, to four for the Irish.
Samford will play its home opener on Sunday, Aug. 16, when the Bulldogs play host to Belmont at 6 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field.
