Samford's Acuff Appointed to NCAA DI Men's Basketball Rules Subcommittee

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Samford men's basketball coach Lennie Acuff has been appointed to the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Subcommittee. The second-year coach for the Bulldogs is set to serve on the committee until 2030.
The mission and goals of the rules committee are to protect student-athlete safety, create and maintain enforceable rules, develop and expand resources for officials, contribute to the health and growth of the sport, and preserve traditions and integrity of the sport. "The Men's Basketball Rules Committee is thrilled to have Coach Acuff join the group," said Paul Brazeau, Senior Vice President of Men's Basketball for the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and chair of the Rules Subcommittee. "Lennie's storied career and love of the game will be a great resource for the committee. He brings seasoned viewpoints and objective observations that will, no doubt, be valuable to our work"
The group of 16 members is set to meet every year in May after the season. "It will be an honor to serve as a member of the NCAA Men's Basketball Rules Subcommittee," said Acuff. "I look forward to learning and working alongside such a highly respected group of administrators and coaches. I am grateful to J.D. Hamilton and the entire committee for the opportunity."
A coaching veteran of over 35 years, Acuff is set to begin his second season at Samford with exhibitions in October and regular-season opener on Nov. 2 when they host Berry.
