Bulldogs Finish 9th at Bayou City Classic

HOUSTON, Texas - The Samford men's golf team finished play at the Bayou City Classic this afternoon. The two-day, three-round event hosted by Rice saw the Bulldogs finish in ninth place in the 13 team field.Â
Coming off a second-place team finish in their season opener, the Bulldogs were led by Jack Mikesell, who finished in 21st place and even par over three rounds of play at Westwood GC. He opened with two rounds of 71 before closing with a 74 today. Blake Gayles started with an even-par round one, before shooting 73 and 74 in his closing rounds to finish 30th.Â
Campbell Sciortino was consistent over his play as he shot 74,75,75 to finish 52nd and eight-over par. Trip Duke closed with a 71 in round three to jump up the leaderboard to 60th place and finish nine-over par, while Nolen Wolfe bookended his second round 79 with two 75s to finish 72nd.
The Dogs are off until Oct. 12 when they will tee it up at The Scrappy at Pinetree in Kennesaw, Ga.Â
