Samford University Athletics

2012 (Junior): Competed in all six meets during the season … earned points for the men’s team at the SoCon Championships with a season-best 29th place finish in the 8K (25:49.25) … placed 11th in the 6K at the Alabama Cross Country Kickoff (21:16.42) … set a season-best in the 6K at the Auburn Invite (21:13.58) and the 10K at the NCAA South Regional (33:09.4).

2011 (Sophomore): Competed in four meets during the season … led the team with a time of 25:33.03 in the 8k, set at the SoCon Championships … earned times of 26:21.53 in the 8k at the Alabama Crimson Classic, 20:11.4 in the 6k at the Auburn Invitational and 15:41.98 in the 5k at the JSU/Struts Season Opener.

2010 (Freshman): Emerged as the top runner for the Bulldog men in his true freshman season...finished second on the team in 49th overall in his collegiate debut at the always tough Crimson Classic (Sept. 10)...led the team in the next two meets, finishing 65th at the Brooks Memphis Twilight (Sept. 25) and eighth at the Samford Invitational (Oct. 9)...named SoCon Runner of the Week after the Memphis Twilight, posting 25:59.46 on the 8K course which was the fastest time for a Samford cross country athlete in two years...also was named SoCon Runner of the Week after his performance at the Samford Invitational...finished fourth on the team and 21st overall at the Front Runner Invitational (Oct. 16)...led the Bulldogs to a ninth place finish at the SoCon Championships (Oct. 30), finishing first on the team and 34th overall...was one of three Bulldog men to run in and finish the tough 8K course at the NCAA South Regional in Hoover, Ala.

High School: A 2009 Alabama Cross Country State Champion...runner up at the state meet in 2008...placed second at the state track and field meet in 2010 in the 800 meters and 1600 meters...received the Spartan Crest...a Bryant Jordan Scholarship winner.

Personal: Born February 3, 1992...son of John and Shari Dorsett...majoring in religion.
