Samford University Representative Policy

Representative Registration Form

Representative Registration Process
- Representative must be registered with the State of Alabama Secretary of State.
- Representative obtains Samford application from compliance office.
- Representative must submit Samford registration application and materials/brochures regarding agency to compliance office.
- Compliance office will review all requests before confirming accepted registration.
- Compliance office will mail acceptance letter to representative. The representative's name/agency will be added to Samford's approved representative list that's distributed to student-athletes and parents.
- Compliance office will maintain application and representative information for student-athletes to review.

 Representative Penalties
- A representative not registered with Samford who makes contact with Samford student-athletes will be referred to the compliance office to complete registration process.
- A representative who violates Samford policies will be removed from Samford's registration list for a period determined by the institution. A second violation will result in permanent removal from Samford's registration list and referred to the Department of Consumer Affairs and applicable Players Association.
- If a representative's registration is revoked, Samford will take reasonable actions to discourage contact between its student-athletes and the representative concerning matters of representation. The representative will not be permitted to enter Samford property for the purpose of seeking to represent a student-athlete.

 Representative Benefits
- Identified as a representative with Samford in all materials provided to student-athletes and their families.
- Eligible to participate in educational workshops for student-athletes and their families.
- ONLY registered representatives with Samford may have contact with Samford student-athletes.

 Representative Responsibilities
- Abide by state, NCAA, conference and University rules and regulations for representative activities and conduct.
- Refrain from contacting (directly, indirectly or through a representative, i.e. "runner" or former Samford student-athlete) student-athletes and their families and friends prior to the expiration of the student-athletes' athletic eligibility without prior approval from Samford University's compliance office.
- Refrain from accepting complimentary tickets from players.
- Provide information regarding office to the compliance office. All mail received by Samford from a representative for student-athletes with remaining eligibility should be forwarded to compliance office. The mail will then be forwarded to the student-athlete to review.
- Observe good business practices:
1. Provide honest, lawful, ethical and effective representation to student-athletes.
2. Avoid conflicts of interest that may compromise the interest of student-athletes.
3. Avoid any involvement of student-athletes or others in actions that may jeopardize student-athletes' eligibility under state, NCAA, conference and University rules and/or subject the University to harm.
4. Avoid providing or offering to provide anything of value to a student-athlete or affiliates in return for support of the representative's selection by the student-athlete.
5. Provide current and accurate information to Samford, its student-athletes and their families and friends including, but not limited to, the representative's professional credentials, clients and office.
