Tell us about your college experience:

"My college experience was everything I could have asked for and more. I had a great career, met my future husband, built lifetime friendships, and received a great education from Valdosta State University."

Tell us about your family:
"My husband, Matt, and I have been married for 7 years and met while both playing basketball at Valdosta State. We have three beautiful daughters: Carsten (5), Kyler (3), and Cohen (1). They keep us busy, but we can't imagine life any other way! They will big be fans of our team, and more importantly of Sam the Bulldog!"

Tell us about where you grew up:
"Well, I was born in Wyoming and my entire family is from Nebraska. So I feel like I am a healthy mix of Midwest and Southern Charm :) A perfect fit for Birmingham!!!"

What made you decide to coach at Samford?
"I knew this was a great spot first and foremost because of what Samford stands for and the mission of the University. I have always wanted to coach at a University that really supports student athletes having a great all around experience, and you can definitely do that here!"

What do you love MOST about coaching at Samford?
"I love the family atmosphere the places gives off. Everyone has been so helpful and so supportive and just I can't wait to even get to know more people here. After about a week on the job I have really enjoyed the time I have had with the team and really looking forward to building relationships with them and making them the best athletes and women they can be."

What is one of your best memories as a coach so far?
"My best memory as a coach so far has been walking in to meet the team for the first time on the day of my press conference. I felt instant excitement and acceptance."

How would you describe your coaching style?
"I like to play fast and score fast. I want all 5 people on the floor to believe every time they touch the ball they are capable of scoring. I get as excited on the sidelines as the team and want them to feel my joy in coaching every moment!"

How would your student-athletes describe you as a coach?
"I think they would describe me as a passionate, energized coach. I love to have to fun during practice (basketball is a game and I try to keep that in perspective). I am also very relationship driven and understand that if you earn a players trust, they will run through a brick wall for you."

What is one strategy you use to keep your players motivated and striving for success?
"I think giving them confidence is a major key along with allowing them to be themselves. If you set restrictions on players abilities they will only reach that benchmark and not believe they are capable of more."

What is are some of your hobbies or things you enjoy outside of coaching?
"I really like doing things outdoors, especially with my family. We LOVE the beach and try to get together with our entire family once a year. There are a total of 7 grandkids so we have a big time when we all get together. I also love going to the movies (I think more for the popcorn). "

What is one strategy you use to keep your players motivated and striving for success?
"I think giving them confidence is a major key along with allowing them to be themselves. If you set restrictions on players abilities they will only reach that benchmark and not believe they are capable of more."
