Ben Ashford is entering his sixth season as Samford’s director of football strength and conditioning.
Ashford develops and implements year-round training protocols for Samford’s football student-athletes, and he oversees the football strength and conditioning and nutrition staff. He plans and manages budgets for football strength and conditioning and performance nutrition.
Additionally, Ashford works with athletic training to implement alternative strength programs for injured athletes. He also designed, implemented and currently leads an ongoing drug and alcohol monitoring and recovery program.
Prior to coming to Samford, Ashford worked as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Alabama from 2013 to 2015, serving as the strength and conditioning coach for baseball and men’s tennis. He was a strength and conditioning intern at Alabama from 2012 to 2013.
Ashford earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Auburn University in 2004. He then earned a master’s in human performance from Alabama in 2013.
