Mickey Conn enters his first season on the football coaching staff at Samford.
 
Conn comes to Samford after serving on the staff at Clemson from 2016 to 2025. During the 2025 season, he was the defensive pass game coordinator/co-special teams coordinator and safeties coach.
 
During his time at Clemson, Conn also served as the co-defensive coordinator/safeties coach (2022-2024), special teams/safeties coach (2021-2022), safeties coach (2017-2020) and defensive assistant (2016).
 
As an assistant at Clemson, Conn helped lead the Tigers to two national championships, seven ACC titles and an overall record of 112-25. Conn coached five All-Americans during his stint at Clemson.
 
Prior to his time at Clemson, Conn was the head coach at Grayson High School in Georgia from 2000 to 2015. Conn founded the program and built it to become a national power, posting a record of 137-48. His team won a state championship in 2011 and twice during his tenure reached the No. 1 national ranking. He was inducted into the Gwinnett County Sports Hall of Fame in 2019.
 
He started his coaching career as an assistant coach at South Gwinnett High School in Georgia from 1998 to 1999.
 
Conn earned a bachelor’s degree from Alabama in 1995. He also earned a master’s degree from Ball State in 2006.
