Bridgett Smith remains a member of the Samford softball family this season and begins her first year as a Student Assistant Coach. Smith, a native of Knoxville, Tenn., played two seasons at Samford after attending Chattanooga State Community College.
Smith was one of the Bulldogs' three team captains a year ago and turned in a solid season while platooning between catcher and third base. She finished the campaign among the team's top-five players in a number of offensive categories and compiled a stellar .973 fielding percentage.
Smith, who was a TJCAA All-America performer at CSCC, will provide key leadership as a student assistant coach for the Bulldogs this season and is expected to help enhance the defensive performance of the team's talented, yet young infield.
