Chris Bushby is entering her third full season as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs following a two-year stint as head coach at Clifton High School in Texas. She currently serves as Samford's outfield coach and also coordinates the team's record-setting conditioning program. In Bushby's first year at Clifton HS, the Lady Cubs compiled a 25-8 overall record and shattered a number of school records from previous years. The Lady Cubs enjoyed their first district championship and earned a trip to the state playoffs. The following year, Bushby and the Lady Cubs improved to 28-5, going undefeated in district play. Bushby was named the District Coach of the Year following both seasons. She also served as the assistant volleyball coach at Clifton. A graduate of Starkville High School, Bushby attended Mississippi State where she was a four-year letterwinner for the Bulldog softball team. She was named to the Academic All-SEC Team three times as an outfielder and received NFCA Academic All-American honors following her senior season. In 1998, the Bulldogs earned a second-place finish at the SEC Tournament and Bushby was voted the team's Most Inspirational Player. During her four years as a Bulldog, Mississippi State made its first trip to an NCAA Regional and finished third behind the University of Washington and Utah in the 2000 Seattle Regional. She earned a bachelor's of science degree in fitness management from Mississippi State in 2000. In addition to playing college softball, Bushby coached in an ASA organization during her junior and senior seasons. She also served as an assistant coach at Starkville Academy during the fall of 2000. Bushby is currently working on a master's degree in counseling at UAB.
