Ashley Cope Shoemaker is entering her eighth year as an assistant coach with the Samford University track and field teams, after serving as an athlete for the women's program from 2011-2014.
Shoemaker was a standout athlete for the Bulldogs, and in 2013, her junior season, she was named SoCon Women’s Most Outstanding Outdoor Track and Field Athlete in 2013. She was an NCAA East Regional Preliminary Round Pole Vault Qualifier and a Four-time Heptathlon Champion in the SoCon.
During her coaching career at Samford she has coached 10 Southern Conference Indoor Track & Field Champions – 10 Southern Conference Outdoor Track & Field Champions – 3 NCAA East Regional Outdoor Track & Field Qualifiers – 2 NCAA Indoor Track & Field All-Americans- 1 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field All-American
A native of Julietta, Georgia, Shoemaker attended First Presbyterian Day School and was named the Macon Female Athlete of the Year, as well as the Macon Telegraph Selby Buck Female Athlete of the Year. She also played basketball and ran cross country.
