SENIOR SPOTLIGHT
My favorite Samford memory is: Traveling to North Carolina with all of the injured players to watch the girls compete for the 2010 SoCon title. We would have given anything to be on the other side of the field playing with our team, but it was so nice to be around the girls and get to show our support. The whole weekend was a blast, getting to watch our girls play The Citadel in the semifinals and UNCG in the finals, and to also cheer on the volleyball girls as they took care of business at Western Carolina. It was a great weekend and I was blessed to be a part of it.
The one thing I[apos]ll miss the most about Samford soccer is: Being part of a team and going through the fun times and the not so fun times with my best friends, knowing that they are there with me committed to the same goal. Nothing compares to working hard day in and day out with 20 other girls in order to accomplish one goal and getting to experience the benefits of all the time and hard work we put in together.
The most important thing I can tell incoming freshmen is: Don[apos]t leave on day two! Ha, but really . . . it is an overwhelming transition coming from club soccer to college soccer. It may be intimidating at first, but you are on the team for a reason and you should be confident in that. Work as hard as you can and control what you can, the rest will pan out. Enjoy it because it flies by, and remember that soccer is just a game and in four years most people move on to the next stage of their life. Don[apos]t stress over the little things that won[apos]t matter down the road, take advantage of the time you have in an amazing environment with an incredible team and caring staff.
