Samford University Athletics

Alexandra Koniaev is an assistant with the Samford women's tennis team.

Koniaev is a New York native who grew up playing tennis in Queens and Long Island.

She began her college career playing Division I tennis at Elon University. Here she earned a full scholarship for her high ranking of 73 in the U.S. out of high school. At Elon, she claimed the No. 1 position in singles and doubles and was named team captain her senior year. Alex has earned two All-CAA Women’s Tennis awards and four CAA Scholar-Athlete awards while at Elon.

Graduating in 2020 with a major in Biology, Alex continued her education and pursued her nursing degree at Samford University. She was able to play her fifth and final year of collegiate tennis at Samford during the 2020-21 season. Afterwards, she began coaching the team and continues to work with David as a graduate assistant. She has helped lead the team to a 13-9 overall record for the 2022 tennis season.
