Clinton Fletcher

Clinton Fletcher returns for a second season at Samford to coach the sprints, hurdles and jumps groups.

The sprint and hurdle groups saw immediate success in 2012 under Fletcher, as the men's team set new indoor school records in the 60, 200 and 400-meter dash as well as the 60-meter hurdles and the 1,600-meter relay.  Justin Emerson, who set the 60 and 200-meter records, won an indoor conference title in the 60-meter dash, going on to set a school record in the 100-meter dash during the outdoor season as well.  Bob Elliot II set a school record in the indoor triple jump and was named the SoCon Men's Freshman of the Year at the outdoor conference meet.

Prior to Samford, Fletcher coached four years as the head men's and women's track and field and cross country coach at Allen County Community College in Iola, Kan. There, Fletcher helped coach two NJCAA triple jump national champions: Cameron Parkor in the 2009 indoor season and J'Vente Deveaux in the 2011 outdoor season. Under his tutelage, the Allen County squad had 29 NJCAA All-American performers, 24 NJCAA Region VI champions, 28 NJCAA conference champions and 26 school records. Fletcher was also named the 2010 NJCAA Region VI Men's Outdoor Coach of the Year.

A native of Pine Bluff, Ark., Fletcher competed at the University of Mississippi, graduating in May of 2005 with a B.S. in Exercise Science. He currently resides in Birmingham, Ala.
