Matt Scott

Matthew Scott enters his third season at Samford after working with the University of Louisville from 2008 to 2013.

“Matt comes highly recommended from many coaches that I respect and consider mentors in this profession,” said Samford Head Coach Derek Schroeder.  “He has experience with a top 25 program, has recruiting ties in an area we recruit heavily and has a great volleyball IQ.  These are all things that will enhance our program.
 
Scott worked in numerous roles with the University of Louisville volleyball program since he started as a practice player in 2008. Scott worked his way up to be the assistant to the executive director of volleyball operations in 2010 where he was responsible for the input of entries into the Scoutware program and assisted in the event management of gameday operations.

In 2010 and 2011 Scott served as the team manager for the Cardinals where he assisted in the organization and coordination of the summer camps hosted by the volleyball program.

After finishing his bachelor’s degree Scott took the position of the team’s video coordinator where he coodinated the the team’s video of practices, games and exchanges with other teams hrough the use of Data Project and eZxchanges. He also assisted with the day-to-day team and staff operations.

With Louisville serving as the host for the 2012 NCAA Championships, Scott was the Assistant to the Assistant Athletic Director for the NCAA Championships, supporting the NCAA in the planning and execution of the event.  

Since the 2010 season, he was the Head Assistant Coach of the Union 16 Adidas club team in Louisville, assisting in the coaching and conditioning efforts of the team and also served as an assistant coach of the Union 16 Asics club team.

In 2012 Scott received the American Volleyball Coaches Association Coaches4Coaches Scholarship.
 
Scott earned his Masters of Arts Degree in Higher Education from Louisville in the spring of 2013 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Sport Administration in 2012.
