BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team practiced for an hour and a half in full pads Friday morning at Seibert Stadium. The practice was the 14th workout of fall camp for the Bulldogs.
The team went through what Head Coach Pat Sullivan called a learning day, practicing for 18 periods on the Seibert Stadium turf.
"We had a good learning day today," Sullivan said. "They're tired, but we were able to get a good practice in today."
The Bulldogs were originally scheduled to practice twice on Friday, but the coaches altered the schedule with the team having a full scrimmage on Saturday.
"We'll make it up on Sunday," Sullivan said. "We didn't have a practice scheduled for Sunday afternoon, so we'll have a shorts learning day Sunday after church. We're taking the team to Church of the Highlands on Sunday and then we'll come back and have some meetings and then practice."
The team's second scrimmage of fall camp is scheduled for Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at Seibert Stadium.
"We're going to make sure we cover all of the situations we need to cover," Sullivan said. "We'll cover certain scenarios, we'll go over a two-minute live and a four-minute situation live at the end of a game. We also will cover all of the phases of our kicking game live."
Samford is preparing for its season-opener against fourth-ranked Georgia Southern on Sept. 3. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. kickoff from Seibert Stadium.
