BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University volleyball team welcomes in six new student-athletes to this season's squad with each being introduced on SamfordSports.com over the next couple of weeks.
 
Morgan St. Germain, a sophomore transfer from Middle Tennessee State University, will gear up for the Bulldogs this fall after having a successful freshman year with the Blue Raiders. St. Germain was also a decorated player during her high school career as she racked up numerous awards during her time at Clear Falls High School in League City, Texas.
 
This is what Samford Head Coach Derek Schroeder had to say about St. Germain:
 
Where do you see St. Germain making the biggest impact on the team?
"Morgan will come into a big role right away with SUVB. Serve receives, digging balls and leadership will be expected from Morgan and we feel she is excited for her new role."
 
What are some of St. Germain's strengths and what intangibles does she possess?
"Morgan is looking for someone to invest in her and once that takes place her commitment will be her biggest strength. She is going to dig balls and pass balls for sure but her passion and dedication is what makes her the type of player she is ."
 
What will fans notice about St. Germain's play on the court?
"She is feisty and will make fun defensive plays and she will continue a tradition of excellent ball control/libero play here at Samford."

2014 Freshman (Middle Tennessee State): Only one of three players to appear in all 116 sets…third on the team with 229 digs (1.97 d/s)…second on the team with 21 service aces…career high of three services aces against Dartmouth (9/19)…tied for team low of 26 reception errors…recorded a career high 20 digs in a five-set victory over Arkansas (9/5)…tallied at least 10 digs in 10 matches during the season.

High School: Three year letter winner for Lydnsay Hodges at Clear Falls High School…in 2011 was named Texas 24-4A First Team All-District & District Defensive Player of the Year, Texas Galveston County First Team selection and Clear Falls High School Defensive Player of the Year…in 2012 was ranked No.1 Max Preps Jr. State of Texas in digs per set with 6.4 and was named Texas 24-5A District Defensive Player of the Year & First Team All-District, Galveston County Defensive Player of the Year & First Team All-Galveston County, Clear Falls High School Defensive Player of the Year along with Cy Fair ISD and Byron Nelson Classic All-Tournament Team recognitions…in 2013 was named All-State by the Texas Girls Coaches Association, Greater Houston Volleyball Association All-Star Team, Texas 24-5A District Defensive Player of the Year & First Team All-District, Greater Houston Athlete of the Week, All-Tournament Defensive MVP at the Orin Covell Longhorn Volleyball Invitational and finished her senior season with 967 digs (6.6 dps) in 147 sets with 50 service aces and took her team to the 2013 Texas 5A State Championships.
