BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford University volleyball coach Vickie Nichols announced the signing of Hilary Gary to a National Letter-of-Intent on Monday.

Gary is a 6-0 middle blocker from Dallas Texas where she led Coppell High School to a top 10 finish in the state of Texas. Gary recorded 280 kills and 188 blocks in 30 matches for Coppell High. She was named as the Citizen's Advocate Student-Athlete of the week on Sept. 8, and was named one of the top six players in the Dallas area by the Dallas Morning News on Oct. 30.

"Hilary is very aggressive at the net," says Nichols. "She has a strong arm swing and can read the block well. We are very excited to sign her early."

Gary is the only player the Bulldogs signed during the early signing period. Nichols hopes to sign two or three more players during the regular signing period in February.
