CALHOUN, LA. - Senior Mike Clements shot two rounds of even-par 72 to finish third and the Samford men's golf team shot a 608 for a 5th-place finish in the
Louisiana Tech Golf Invitational at the Calvert Crossing Golf Course.
Clements' back-to-back rounds helped keep the Bulldogs in the tournament's Top 5, as Samford shot 313 in round one but turned it around in the second 18 to fire 295 and finish with 608. Oklahoma Christian leads the field with a 593.
"Today's round was the best I've ever seen Mike Clements play," said Samford Head Coach Mark Ware. "He really had command of his game and was solid and consistent for us today to help us move into the Top 5. Today we really turned things around after we played so poorly in our last tournament, and I'm excited to see what we can do in tomorrow's final round."
Clements begins Tuesday's final round in third with a 144, followed by Seth Mobley also in the Top 25 with a 154 (81-73). Bradley Farmer shot 155 to tie at 32nd, Andy McRae finished 36th with a 157 and Russell Kelly rounded out the Bulldogs' scorecard with a 164.
