Samford University senior Whitney Miller was named the Atlantic Sun Conference volleyball Player-of-the-Week for the second time this season.
Miller posted 19 kills and 11 digs against league leading Georgia State to lead the Bulldogs to a 3-2 win, and an overall 2-1 week. Miller is the second person to repeat as volleyball player-of-the-week this season, UCF's Leyre Santaella Sante earned back-to-back honors in early October.
Miller (Anniston, Ala) posted a double-double in each of the three matches she competed in this past week. Against Georgia State Miller hit .293 with two aces and one block along with her 19 kills and 11 digs. Over the weekend she posted 18 kills and 13 digs against UNC Asheville and 19 kills and 12 digs against Winthrop. For the week Miller averaged four kills per game, 2.57 digs per game and 0.50 blocks per game. In conference statistics, Miller ranks fifth in kills averaging 3.91 per game this season, she has total of 360 kills on the season, the most of any Atlantic Sun volleyball player. As a team Samford, ranks fifth in kills averaging 14.13 per game and in assists with an average of 12.74 per game.
This is the third time in Miller's Bulldog career she has earned player-of-the-week honors. She is the seventh Samford player to earn player-of-the-week honors. Samford will face Alabama on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Seibert Hall.
