Samford opens a two-game Florida road trip tonight at Stetson. The Bulldogs are currently in a four-way tie for first place at 1-0 and canl make a statement in the Atlantic Sun standings if they can pick up a pair of road wins this weekend.
Dog Bites: Samford won its third straight match with a 3-1 win over Mississippi State on Tuesday. Shellie Ouldhouse led five Bulldogs in double-figures with 16 kills. Abby Miner and Whitney Miller each recorded double-doubles and Stefanie Pickett and Angela Smith chipped in 10 kills each. The Bulldogs have won four of their last five matches and are hitting .208 with 2.97 blocks per game over that stretch. Miller is currently fourth in the conference in kills per game with 3.98.
Stetson: The Hatters are 4-7 on the year after crushing Div.II Savannah State 30-11, 30-9, 30-7. Michelle Clonan leads Stetson with 101 kills (2.59 kpg). Kira Smedley is right behind her with 99 (1.61 kpg). Friday's match will be the conference opener for Stetson
Jacksonville: The Dolphins are 2-10 (0-1 A-Sun ) on the season but have won two of their last three after dropping their last match to FAMU. JU has played a very tough non-confernce schedule which has included Georgia, Auburn, Syracuse, and Miami. JU is led offensively by Radka Dimitrova who had 10 kills against FAMU.
