Beard, Brazil -
Samford got a pair of goals by Hayley Kolb and two more goals from freshmen as the Bulldogs defeated Motorola 4-1 to salvage a split Tuesday afternoon in Beard, Brazil.
The first match of the day saw the Bulldogs pitted against the Brazilian Women's Champions from Guarani. The defending champs took the match, 3-0, in front of their home crowd. The second match was against the Motorola Club. The Bulldogs took that match, 4-1, to even their record on the trip at 3-3. Freshman Keala Ryan got the game-winning goal for Samford and sophomore Hayley Kolb scored two goals in the win. Freshman Kathy Nichols added the fourth goal for the Bulldogs.
Samford and Motorola will meet again on Wednesday, as the Bulldogs will take a break from split squad matches and put the entire team together for their only match of the day.
