TIPOFF: Friday Nov. 22, 2002 7:30 p.m. Seibert Hall, Birmingham, Ala.

SAMFORD: Head Coach Jimmy Tillette looks to become Samford winningest coach tonight. His first win in 2002-03 will move him past John Brady on Samford's All-Time wins list. Tillette and Brady each have 89 career wins. The Bulldogs are 17-13 in openers since moving to Division I in 1971. Samford is 10-3 in home openers in that time. Under Coach Tillette, the Bulldogs are 4-1 in openers and 2-0 at home. The Bulldogs were more up-tempo in their exhibition victory scoring 81 points and taking 66 shots against VASDA. Look for Coach Tillette's gang to try to slow down the Mocs every chance they get.

CHATTANOOGA: The Mocs have shown they can score points in their two exhibition games under first year head coach Jeff Lebo. UTC defeated VASDA 120-72 and Team Georgia in overtime 113-109. UTC graduated its top four scorers from a year ago but has replaced them with three junior college transfers who will be in the starting line-up. Chattanooga's leading returning scorer is Tim Parker who averaged 8.8 points last season. The Mocs were 12-2 at home but only 3-9 on the road in '01-'02.

INSIDE STUFF: The Bulldogs and Mocs have met 74 times but none since 1998. The Mocs have won the five last meetings between the two schools and have a 41-33 all-time edge in the series. Samford's last win came on Feb. 21, 1974 when the Bulldogs came away with an 87-77 win in Birmingham. Samford holds a 20-14 advantage in games played in the Magic City. The series dates all the way back to 1926. Tonight's game will be a study in contrasting styles. Chattanooga likes to push the ball up and down the floor. The Mocs scored over 100 points in each of its exhibition wins. Samford would like to slow the game down and see the final score in the 60's.

ON AIR: The game can be heard on WVSU 91.1-FM and the internet at www.samfordsports.com.

NEXT: Samford continues its three game home stand against Arkansas State on Monday, Nov. 25 in Seibert Hall. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. CT.
