Samford junior right-handed pitcher Frank Allen Yeilding was named the Atlantic Sun Baseball Pitcher-of-the-Week by the league office on Monday afternoon. Yeilding tossed a seven-inning no-hit shutout in his first career start at Samford in the Bulldogs' 2-0 win over VMI as Samford earned the three-game series sweep to open the 2002 season.

Yeilding, a native of Birmingham, Ala. and Mountain Brook High School graduate, led Central Alabama Community College to the Junior College World Series last season before joining the Bulldogs prior to the 2002 season. Yeilding's debut was an impressive one, as he struck out 10 of the 23 batters he faced while walking just two batters. The no-hitter was the first for the Bulldogs in Head Coach Tim Parenton's five-year tenure at Samford.

Samford (3-0) returns to action Tuesday when the Bulldogs travel to face SEC and instate foe Auburn University.
