BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Samford University has signed men's golfers Ryan Mayberry and Louis South II to national letters of intent, head coach Mark Ware announced Tuesday.

Mayberry, from Evangelical Christian School in Memphis, Tenn., placed second in the 2001 TSSAA State Championship and earned All-State honors as a senior. Additionally, Mayberry was named Best of Preps four straight years.

Louis South II, of Lynn Haven, Fla., finished second in total point standings in 2001 on the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour, winning several events and placing seventh in the SJGT Tournament of Champions. He also placed third for Bay County High in the state regional high school tournament and was the Bay High Player of the Year for 2001-02. Most recently, South was named the AHEAD Player of the Month for May on the SJGT. He has also been a member of the All-County golf team the past three years along with garnering All-County Academic honors.
