Eastern Kentucky had 10 service aces and hit 100 points better than Samford on its way to 3-0 Ohio Valley Conference volleyball victory Saturday afternoon at Seibert Hall.
EKU (14-7, 5-1 OVC) was led by Liz Guard with 14 kills, Jessica Sabath with 12 kills, and Kasha Brozek with 10 kills as the Colonels hit .283 (48-14-120) in the match.
Samford (7-12, 1-4 OVC) was led by Alyssa Whitehead with 15 kills but for the second-straight match she was the only Bulldog in double-figures as Samford hit just .180 (46-22-133) on the afternoon.
Eastern took the first two games by identical 30-24 scores and took the final game 30-26. Krista Kettering had 16 digs and Callaway Logan had 10 digs for the Bulldogs who have dropped four straight OVC matches without winning a game in those four matches.
Samford had four service aces and seven serving errors while the Colonels had 10 aces to only five errors. EKU out-blocked the Bulldogs 7-4.5.
Samford will return to action next weekend as it hosts Eastern Illinois in a 7 p.m. match on Friday, Oct. 17.
