NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Samford junior Ricky McLain was named the Ohio Valley Conference Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week, Tuesday afternoon by the OVC office. McLain finished 38th out of 263 runners at the 10K Chili Pepper Invitational over the weekend in a time of 30:53.

This is the first OVC honor for the Memphis, Tenn. native, and the fourth straight week that a member of either of Samford's cross country teams has received recognition from the OVC. McLain helped the Bulldogs to a 20th place finish at the race, which featured many of the top teams from across the country.

McLain and the Bulldogs will have a week off before traveling to Murray, Ky. on November 1 for the OVC Championships.
