Samford receiver Efrem Hill and quarterback Ray Nelson each received national honors after outstanding performances in last week's 57-22 victory over Tennessee-Martin.
Hill, who caught 11 passes for 223 yards and passed for a 79-yard touchdown against UT-Martin, was named Quad-Offensive Player of the Week by Don Hansen's National Weekly Football Gazette. Hill was also listed as the nation's top performer in receiving yards and all purpose yards by I-AA.org Magazine.
Nelson was also named in I-AA.org Magazine as the top performer in passing efficiency, as he completed 12-for-24 passes for 303 yards and two touchdowns and a 200.22 quarterback rating.
In addition to the individual honors, the team was also recognized by I-AA.org Magazine as the top passing offense. In the game, the team accumulated a school-record 561 yards passing.
