BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford women's basketball team will open the 2003-04 regular season by playing host to the Alcorn State Lady Braves on Saturday at Seibert Hall.

The game is the regular season opener for both teams, and is the first meeting ever between the two schools in women's basketball. Last season, Samford posted a record of 7-20 overall and 3-13 in the Atlantic Sun. Alcorn State is coming off a season in which it posted a record of 18-12 overall and 11-7 in the SWAC. The Lady Braves reached the second round of the SWAC Tournament before falling to Alabama State, 65-61.

The game is set for a 2:00 p.m. tip-off in Seibert Hall.
