BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford football team will play host to the Jacksonville State Gamecocks on Saturday, November 8, at 1:00 p.m. at Seibert Stadium. The game marks the final home game for 14 Samford seniors, who will be honored prior to the game. Jacksonville State enters the game tied with Tennessee State for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference with a 4-1 conference record. The Gamecocks are 5-3 overall. Samford is currently third in the conference with a 4-2 league mark. Samford holds a 6-3 overall record this season.
The game will mark the 41st meeting between Samford and Jacksonville State in football, making the Gamecocks Samford's most played opponent. Samford leads the all-time series, 21-17-2. The two programs first met in 1905, with Samford, then known as Howard College, defeating JSU, 32-0, in Anniston. Jacksonville State has won four of the last five meetings, including a 37-23 Gamecock victory in Jacksonville last season. This is the first time the teams will meet as members of the Ohio Valley Conference, as both programs joined the league for the 2003 season.
