BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -
The Samford University football team worked out for just over two and a half hours in shorts on the practice field on the Samford campus Tuesday afternoon.
"I thought we moved around well on both sides of the ball today," head coach Bill Gray said. "We continued to pile on a lot of reps, and we have some good film to watch. I am still impressed with some of the newcomers, but we also have some veterans who don't want to lose their positions. We got a little tired towards the end and lost some concentration, but we have got to be mentally tough."
The practice was the second of the season for Samford, as the team held its first practice at Seibert Stadium on Monday. The Bulldogs will practice again on Wednesday afternoon at the practice field. The team will practice in shells and will hit the field at 3:45 p.m.
Samford opens the 2003 season on Thursday, August 28 at Chattanooga. Kick-off for the game is set for 7:00 p.m. central time and will be televised by The Football Network.
