NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Samford University freshmen point guard Jerry Smith averaged 7.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game to earn his second Ohio Valley Conference Rookie of the Week honor.

The redshirt freshman went 3-of-6 from the field in each contest, including a 2-of-4 effort from behind the arc to go with seven rebounds and five assists against Murray State as he helped Samford record back-to-back road wins over Murray State and Tennessee-Martin last week.

The Bulldogs are now 8-7 on the year and 3-1 in the OVC. Smith and the Bulldogs will be back in action on Thursday night as Samford hosts Morehead State in a 7 p.m. game at Seibert Hall.
