THE GAME: Samford (4-6) returns home for the New Year after dropping a pair of road games at Memphis and Oklahoma State. The Bulldogs are 3-0 at home this season. Tennessee Wesleyan is also 4-6 on the year but has not played since a 94-51 loss at Middle Tennessee on Dec. 13.
SAMFORD: Samford has played three home games this season and the Bulldogs have enjoyed shooting the ball at Seibert Hall. In three games this season the Dogs are shooting 64 percent from the floor (102-160), 51 percent from three-point range (32-63), and 91 percent (38-42) from the free throw line. The Dogs are averaging 91.3 points per game and have won by 36 points per game at Seibert.
Junior Josh Hare came off the bench to score a team-high 12 second half points at Oklahoma State on Tuesday. Over the last three games Hare is averaging 10.3 points on 10-15 shooting from the floor. Phillip Ramelli continues to lead the Bulldogs averaging 13.8 points per game
TENNESSEE WESLEYAN: The Bulldogs from Athens, Tenn. have not played since falling to Middle Tennessee on Dec. 13. TWC is 6-4 on the year and 3-1 in the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
SERIES HISTORY: Samford is 5-3 all-time against Tennessee-Wesleyan. Samford has won three-straight in the series including a 69-44 victory in the last meeting on Dec. 6, 1983. TWC won three straight in the series from 1958-60. The first ever meeting was a 41-35 Samford victory on Feb. 16, 1928.
UP NEXT: Samford opens Ohio Valley Conference play on Tuesday as it hosts former Atlantic Sun Conference rival Jacksonville State at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs are 43-35 all time against the Gamecocks.
