BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Samford University volleyball team (4-11, 2-4 OVC) will battle the Eastern Illinois Panthers (14-4, 6-0 OVC) on Friday, Oct. 14 at 7 p.m., and then compete against the Southeast Missouri State Othakians (4-12, 3-3 OVC) on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. Friday's competition will take place at Lantz Arena in Charleston, Ill., while Saturday's battle will be held at Houck Fieldhouse in Cape Girardeau, Mo.

A LITTLE HISTORY... The Bulldogs have a 1-1 winning record against Eastern Illinois, while SEMO holds a 1-0 winning record over Samford.

The two meetings between Samford and EIU were in 1995 and 2003. In 1995, the Panthers defeated the Bulldogs, 3-1, while last season Samford won against EIU, 3-1.

The only meeting between the Bulldogs and SEMO was last season, as the Othakians defeated Samford, 3-1.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK... The Bulldogs fell to Morehead State, 3-1 on Friday (Oct. 8) at Wetherby Gym in Morehead, Ky. Match scores were as follows: 30-22, 30-25, 30-18, 30-12.

On Saturday (Oct. 9), Samford fell to Eastern Kentucky, 3-1 at McBrayer Arena in Richmond, Ky. Match scores were as follows: 30-15, 30-27, 30-20, 30-16.
