WAYNESVILLE, N.C. - The Samford University women's golf team will complete day one of the Sixth-Annual Wachovia/Great Smokies Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina at Waynesville Country Club in Waynesville, N.C., on Monday, Oct. 18. In a 24-team field, Samford finished day one in 11th place with a shot of 311.
"I very excited with the teams performance today," said head coach Ian Thompson. "Overall the team did better today than they have all season. We made some mistakes, but definitely less mistakes than in earlier competitions this season. We look forward to competing tomorrow and hope to improve on today's scores."
Samford's top performers were Kelly Stout, whom finished with a shot of 75, Kelly Villarreal and Tricia Harlow recorded a shot of 78 each.
Also competing well for the Bulldogs, Brooke Barriento and Courtney Warr, who both finished with a shot of 80.
Bulldogs will continue all-day competition tomorrow, Tuesday, Oct. 19 at the Wachovia-Great Smokies Intercollegiate hosted by Western Carolina in Waynesville, N.C.
